Marta Singh

Born and raised in Argentina, Marta brings luminous magic and emotional impact to traditional, literary and personal material. She is known for the skill of her crafting, her poetic use of language and her passionate presence. Performances by Marta leave audiences spell-bound.

Marta has performed regularly at the Fourth Stage of the National Arts Centre in Ottawa and has been a featured teller at Canadian storytelling festivals since 2005. In 2010, she debuted in her native Buenos Aires, where she has performed at schools, concert series and book fairs. In 2011, www.2wp.ca produced and premiered her Landscapes of Silence , developed thanks to the Emerging Artist Grant awarded to her by the City of Ottawa.

As well as performing, Marta works with organizations to help them find that critical backbone of story that enables them to provide information in meaningful and compelling ways. She also works with communiity groups and students to help them discover the power of narrative as an effective and creative thinking tool. For fellow artists, she is a valued resource, sharing her particular skills and insights and has contributing to the over all growth of this precious art form in many ways.

As a teller Marta was forged in Canada. To her teachers Jan Andrews and Jennifer Cayley, she is forever grateful. In Buenos Aires, her gratitude goes to her teacher Juan Marcial Moreno. For shedding light on the art of personal narrative, she thanks Ana Maria Bovo.
